Lot of 17 Hand Signed Cards art-print-vive-les-frasers script 8x10

There are still new items being added to the auction, so keep checking back to see what has been newly listed.  Some of the hottest items are a collector’s set of hand-signed “chaser” cards of 17 season one cast members, a copy of episode 213 – A Dragonfly in Amber script signed by Caitriona Balfe, and an autographed photo of Rik Rankin.  But most items have a lot of play in them before they reach final bids expected.  Some items unique to this auction that are currently going for below projected value are items signed by Graham McTavish including a watercolor print of the actor as Dougal MacKenzie, and a handcrafted “windowpane quilt” framing a view of Claire Fraser outside in the fields outside Castle Leoch and an original abstract-expressionist painting of Craigh Na Dun entitled “Going Home.”  There are dozens of art prints, jewelry items, teeshirts, knitted goods and other artisan crafts that would make beautiful holiday gifts.  So, please take a look!  All proceeds go directly to World Child Cancer USA as winners will “pay” for their items by making a direct donation to the charity’s website in the amount of the winning bid.

Even if you can’t bid yourself, you can help support World Child Cancer USA by sharing the auction via social media.  Just copy and paste the following to FB or Twitter and help get the word out.

Bidding opens at noon eastern time on September 11th—the 3rd anniversary of Caitriona Balfe’s casting as Claire Randall Fraser in the TV adaptation of Outlander. Caitriona Balfe is a patron of London-based World Child Cancer which provides diagnosis, treatment and palliative care for children in poorer nations that would otherwise not have access to essential medical care. September is also childhood cancer awareness month.

Donations for the auction have been contributed by a number of businesses, artists, crafters and fans across the Outlander community, as well as a number of items autographed and donated by Caitriona Balfe herself. Featured items include an autographed copy of Caitriona Balfe’s script from episode 213 – A Dragonfly in Amber, Outlander ornaments, clothing and crafts, autographed pictures of cast members, beautiful paintings created by fan artists, and a “window pane” quilt of Castle Leoch autographed by Graham McTavish.

A big shout out to our auction coordinator Kat Farlowe of Athens Georgia.  Kat has worked tirelessly all year to secure donations and build the auction site online so that we could make these items available to fans both far and near.  (If any readers would like to donate additional prizes, please email Kat or reach out to her via DM on twitter @KlFarlowe.  Prizes can be added at any time prior to the end of the auction.)

New items will be added as they are received, be sure to check in often!  The auction ends at 10AM eastern on October 8, 2016 at this year’s Outlandish Gathering in Savannah, GA.  Winning bidders in attendance will be able to take their items home—winning bidders online will have their prizes sent by mail once donation confirmation has been received by email. (Shipping costs are calculated into the starting bids and all payments will be made by making a direct donation to World Child Cancer.)

We invite all members of the fan community to register for the auction now, and to be ready to bid on your favorites starting on September 11th.  Click here to preview the auction items and register for bidding.

Tartan Thistle Tee

The thistle, a plant with purple blooms and prickly stems and leaves, is the national emblem of Scotland.

According to legend, when Norse raiders invaded Scotland in 950 AD, one of them stepped on a thistle as they crept toward a Scottish camp after dark. The resulting cry of pain awoke the Scots, who drove the invaders away and saved Scotland. Be sure to check the drop down menu for a variety of styles and colors, including v-necks, long sleeves, tank tops and hoodies.

About the Tartan Thistle: the graphic was designed by graphic artist Audrey Landry and is used with permission to raise funds for Outlandish Gatherings 2016. It has previously been used as a fundraiser for Outlanders United to defray travel costs for the 78th Fraser Highlanders, our pipers, and flags and banners.  A portion of the proceeds also went to support Youth Theatre Arts Scotland. This time the design will be used to defray travel costs for special guests Stephen Walters, Grant O’Rourke, Elias Alexander and Adhamh O’Broin. Though the Gathering does raise funds for World Child Cancer – there is a separate fundraising effort underway for charity purposes.
