Starting today, Outlander fans can preview items donated to Outlandish Gathering’s 3rd annual “Outlandish Auction” to benefit World Child Cancer. This year, bids can be made online so that Outlander fans unable to attend the Gathering in Savannah, GA can participate.
Bidding opens at noon eastern time on September 11th—the 3rd anniversary of Caitriona Balfe’s casting as Claire Randall Fraser in the TV adaptation of Outlander. Caitriona Balfe is a patron of London-based World Child Cancer which provides diagnosis, treatment and palliative care for children in poorer nations that would otherwise not have access to essential medical care. September is also childhood cancer awareness month.
Donations for the auction have been contributed by a number of businesses, artists, crafters and fans across the Outlander community, as well as a number of items autographed and donated by Caitriona Balfe herself. Featured items include an autographed copy of Caitriona Balfe’s script from episode 213 – A Dragonfly in Amber, Outlander ornaments, clothing and crafts, autographed pictures of cast members, beautiful paintings created by fan artists, and a “window pane” quilt of Castle Leoch autographed by Graham McTavish.
A big shout out to our auction coordinator Kat Farlowe of Athens Georgia. Kat has worked tirelessly all year to secure donations and build the auction site online so that we could make these items available to fans both far and near. (If any readers would like to donate additional prizes, please email Kat or reach out to her via DM on twitter @KlFarlowe. Prizes can be added at any time prior to the end of the auction.)
New items will be added as they are received, be sure to check in often! The auction ends at 10AM eastern on October 8, 2016 at this year’s Outlandish Gathering in Savannah, GA. Winning bidders in attendance will be able to take their items home—winning bidders online will have their prizes sent by mail once donation confirmation has been received by email. (Shipping costs are calculated into the starting bids and all payments will be made by making a direct donation to World Child Cancer.)
We invite all members of the fan community to register for the auction now, and to be ready to bid on your favorites starting on September 11th. Click here to preview the auction items and register for bidding.
